Define the affected areas after fire or smoke damage

Start with the property and the decision ahead
Provide the property location, affected rooms and whether access has been authorized. Explain what emergency work has already occurred and which areas remain occupied or restricted. Smoke residue, water from response activities and damaged finishes may require different parts of a recovery plan.
What to clarify before work is scheduled
Ask how the scope separates cleaning, affected-material evaluation, removal, drying where needed and reconstruction. Identify contents or surfaces included in the proposal rather than assuming every item will be restored. Share prior reports and requested insurer documentation before decisions about finish replacement are made.
Costs, approvals and project records
Keep safe photographs, approved scope, cleaning and removal records, invoices and rebuilding decisions together. Environmental testing or mold services should be discussed when relevant to the proposed work. Confirm the responsible parties, project access and which later repairs are separately quoted.
